Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how BrainQuest (package name
com.ojlabs.brainquest, the “App”) handles information when you
download and use it. The App is developed and published by
OJ Labs (“we”, “us”, or
“our”).
BrainQuest is an offline brain-training and educational game app for teens and adults (ages 13 and up), featuring logic puzzles, math practice, memory games, programming concepts, maze challenges, word-building activities, progress tracking, and achievements. The App is not directed at children and is not part of Google Play’s Families program.
In short: BrainQuest works entirely offline, does not require an account, and does not collect personal information from you. All game progress is stored only on your device. The only third-party component in the App is Google AdMob, which is used to display ads.
Information We Collect
BrainQuest does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you. Specifically, the App does not:
- Require account creation, registration, sign-in, or sign-up of any kind.
- Ask for a name, email address, phone number, date of birth, or physical address.
- Access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location.
- Use analytics software development kits (SDKs) of any kind.
- Use crash-reporting SDKs of any kind.
- Connect to any backend server, cloud database, or content management system.
- Use Firebase, Firestore, or any Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure backend service.
Information Stored Locally on Your Device
To let you continue where you left off, the App stores certain information only on the device itself, using local technologies such as an on-device SQLite/Room database and Android SharedPreferences. This includes:
- Game progress, scores, and experience points (XP)
- Levels completed, streaks, and achievements earned
- App settings and preferences (for example, sound, music, and accessibility options)
- Locally-computed learning statistics shown on the Stats & Settings screen (see below)
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to us, to any server we control, or to any third party. If you uninstall the App or clear its data, this locally stored information is permanently deleted.
Stats & Settings
The App includes a self-service “Stats & Settings” screen where you can review your own locally-computed statistics, such as time played, accuracy, and streaks, and adjust sound, music, and accessibility preferences. There is no separate access gate — this screen is available to you like any other part of the App. All information shown there is generated and stored locally on the device and is never transmitted anywhere.
Not Directed at Children
BrainQuest is designed for teens and adults (ages 13 and up) and is not directed at children. It is not enrolled in Google Play’s Families program, and ad requests made by the App are not tagged as child-directed or as being made under the age of consent.
If you believe a child has used the App and provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in the “Contact Us” section so we can look into the matter, although as described above the App is not designed to collect such information from any user in the first place.
Third-Party Services
The only third-party service integrated into BrainQuest is
Google AdMob (com.google.android.gms:play-services-ads), which
we use to display:
- Native ads — shown between activities in a style that matches the App’s design.
- Interstitial ads — shown occasionally based on rounds completed, never in the middle of gameplay.
- Rewarded ads — entirely optional and only shown if the player chooses to watch one in exchange for a bonus hint.
To deliver and measure these ads, Google AdMob may collect certain information such as advertising identifiers, device information, and general usage/interaction data, in accordance with Google’s own privacy and advertising policies. This collection is performed by Google, not by us; our App only triggers ad requests through the AdMob SDK and does not itself access, store, or process the data Google collects for advertising purposes.
For more information about how Google AdMob and Google collect and use data, please review:
- Google Privacy Policy
- Google Ads Policy / How Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services
We do not use any other third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or cloud services in this App.
Data Security
Because BrainQuest stores game data only on your device and does not transmit it to any server we operate, there is no central database of user data for us to secure or that could be exposed in a data breach on our end. The security of information stored on your device (for example, if your device is shared, lost, or compromised) depends on your device’s own security settings and safeguards.
Any data handled by Google AdMob is subject to Google’s own security practices, as described in Google’s privacy policy linked above.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App’s features or applicable law. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
